COPPA — nanoGOAT Parent
Parent is for caregivers
nanoGOAT Parent is a companion app for adults who care for children. It is intended for adult account holders. Caregivers can hand children its visual-support tools under adult supervision. Children do not create Parent accounts.
1. What is COPPA?
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. law that protects the online privacy of children under 13. Operators of services directed to children, or that knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, must provide notice and obtain verifiable parental consent in many cases.
2. How Parent differs from AAC
nanoGOAT AAC is a communication app designed for use by children, with a local-first model and a detailed COPPA policy at/aac/coppa.
nanoGOAT Parent is directed to adult caregivers. Account creation and primary use are for parents/guardians. Parent may store notes or photos that relate to a child because a caregiver chose to record them. Children can also use timers, schedules, first-then boards, and feelings tools within the caregiver's account, including with child lock enabled.
PostHog analytics records the type of visual support opened or used under the caregiver's account identifier. It does not receive child identifiers, names, photos, board content, or selected feelings. Child lock restricts access to adult screens; it does not disable these tool-use events. See theParent Privacy Policyfor analytics collection, choices, and deletion requests.
3. Our commitments
- We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create Parent accounts.
- If we learn that a child under 13 has created a Parent account, we will delete that account and associated data promptly.
- Caregiver-provided content about a child (notes, photos) is treated as the caregiver's account data under theParent Privacy Policy.
- We do not sell children's personal information.
- We do not use Parent content for third-party advertising.
4. Parental rights
If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have collected personal information from your child under 13 in connection with Parent, contact us. You may request review or deletion of that information. You can also delete a Parent account you control atnanogoat.io/account/delete.
